Oh yeah? Well how`s about this...

I drove my mom`s (now brother`s) `58 w/twin 4 barrels from Pennsylvania

to Arizona in the early 80`s. No sun visors while heading west most of

the time. Had to put pieces of paper between the hardtop and the

windshield rail. Seemed every day dawned a new repair situation. First

day out, the gas tank sending unit was leaking fuel into the area under

the soft top. Fixed that at a Chevy dealer in Front Royal, VA. Crossing

the Mississippi, the forward carb linkage became disengaged from the

rest of the shootin`match. Seems I was able to coax it to a safe pull

off and luckily an easy fix. Then, coming into Groom, Texas, just east

of Amarillo, the generator went. Surprisingly a couple hours later I had

located a replacement and installed it myself while a couple of good

ol`boys kept their garage open late for me. (Stupidity confession: I

left the original with the tach gear as a core deposit.) Somewhere

around Tucomcari, NM, I hit snow squalls.

Every minute that went by caused me to wonder what would happen next.

Every click, clunk, tick or stumble had me gripping that big old

steering wheel even tighter. When I finally pulled into my mom`s drive I

was a nervous wreck. Not to mention that my back was killing me.

As a soft-bellied late Boomer, I bow to your life experiences. I am not

worthy, oh master of the twolane, biasply and pebble-grain virgin vinyl.

1. How come we can send a man to the moon, but can’t detect when the car tire is under pressured ? I Just found out that I was driving on 16PSI instead of 32PSI. Same for oil level.Same for car battery.

2. Automatic shirt ironing machine. Can be built using nano-technology  or little robotic ants, as far as I’m concerned.
